The One Sock Story
In honour of the recent Childhood Cancer Awareness Month 2020, we wanted to share news of a very exciting project.
Following on from a personal experience with a happy ending, our Co-Founder, Stella Gittins has launched The One Sock Artist project , an inspiring collective of established and emerging artists supporting Neuroblastoma UK, a small national charity, dedicated to finding a cure for neuroblastoma, a rare childhood cancer. The exclusive limited-edition t-shirts, feature designs based on powerful phrases that give hope and strength and are created by a notable artist line-up. The project has picked up exciting coverage and has been featured on ITV’s This Morning with Neuroblastoma UK patron Alan Carr, Scott Mills and national publications.
Neuroblastoma effects 2 babies each week in the UK, it is usually treated with chemotherapy but in many cases unresponsive to current treatments. Yet some babies can fight off the disease without medical help, even after it has spread... An incredible phenomenon. When Stella’s daughter was diagnosed in 2019, she hoped that they would be one of the estimated 15% who are told that the cancer would be self-curing with no treatment. In one year, Willow’s tumours had almost dissolved naturally without treatment and her future is looking very promising. Understanding that this journey was simply a nightmare for her family, and that most families were living their nightmare for real, Stella hopes that this project makes a real difference with 100% of all profits donated to fund research into this often-devastating disease.

Chris Haines
Chris Haines a London-based artist and illustrator specialises in digital and acrylic contemporary work.
With a background in architecture and the urban environment, Chris’s inspiration mostly comes from everyday experiences and his perception of the world around him. Chris is partially colour blind, which adds an interesting dynamic to the colour palettes he uses and to the understanding of how life is seen through his eyes.
Did you know?
BoxNine7's Television Centre art collection was designed by Chris Haines. The work is a completely unique and tailored celebration of the development's original 1960s features considering its iconic architecture, media heritage and colour.

''Being part of The One Sock Artist Project has been wonderful. My illustrations are inspired by the people around me, and nothing could be more inspiring than being able to help children with cancer. Stella's story is incredibly moving and I hope that my designs can help more children like Willow.'' - Emily Sutton, Artist.
Crystal Fischetti
Crystal’s artistic approach is a portal to new perceptions, invoking and inviting self-knowledge; a journey towards authenticity, awareness, and connection. The core of Crystal’s multi-layered practice takes the form of sculpture, painting and site-specific installations.
With a blending dialogue between life and practice, the resulting work is at once intuitive, performative and organic; a response to a transcendental sensitivity in which she expresses her deep search for life, magic, and truth.
Crystal’s work can be found in a recent commission for British Airways, private collections in Los Angeles and in museums in San Diego and Shanghai.
“I use chromology, the psychology behind colour and people’s physical and emotional response as the foundation for my art. A diagnosis of neuroblastoma can be so devastating for families. I hope my bright and colourful artworks bring positive energy to families and give them hope for the future.” - Nat Bowen, Artist.
Rex Southwick
Rex Southwick’s highly saturated and confidently painted large scale paintings invite you to view these idealised domestic environments at an incomplete and less imposing state. The addition of labourers in his works introduces a narrative, exploring how we view and interact with environments and introducing notions of hierarchy and ownership.
His work creates a bridge between the seemingly endless stream of idealised domestic environments found on digital platforms and the reality of these places.
